Synnove Shih Tzu is a very small hobby kennel located approximately 15 miles north of Seattle, Washington. Here at Synnove we strive to produce gorgeous Shih Tzu for show and/or companion dogs. Our goal is to continue to improve on type, conformation, movement, health and temperament. We comply with AKC breed standards and believe in protecting our breed from backyard breeders and puppy mills. We have occasional litters and sell only to approved homes. The majority of our pups are placed on spay/neuter contracts as pets, regardless of their quality. We do place the occasional show dog with full registration to select individuals.
Our dogs and puppies are AKC registered only.
At Synnove, we attempt to champion all of our breeding stock. We carefully select and establish our lines. We are a work in progress. We show in AKC sanctioned shows locally, and occasionally travel to shows farther away from us. We also do some obedience with dogs that enjoy it, and have a natural talent for it.
Our dogs are raised in our home with our family. We have children and grandchildren ages 4,6,8,10 and 19. We believe in dogs being beloved pets first and show dogs second. We want them to be a part of our family. Our dogs travel with us. They sleep in our beds and live in our home. Although they are small, they are a HUGE part of our lives. Socialization is very important to us.
Our home is a busy one, full of children playing, teens coming and going, and adults carrying on with daily life. Our dogs are very accustomed to noise, children, other pets and strangers. We also have an Exotic Shorthair cat and our dogs are very comfortable with him. We believe toy breeds should not be anxious or nervous in their environment just because of their size. We condition them to be comfortable and well socialized.
Our dogs are carefully screened for health problems prior to breeding. Tests include OFA Hip or Penn Hip screening, Patellar Luxation OFA and CERF eye screening and DNA tests for Renal Dysfunction. Our puppies are born in our home and raised in our bedroom, where we can observe them continually. We begin a vaccination program at 8 weeks, a deworming program at 6 weeks, and have our puppies checked by our veterinarian by 10 weeks for a clean bill of health - whether or not we intend to ship a puppy.
We provide a veterinary certificate of health, and a written guarantee with each puppy placed. Our puppies have a full health guarantee for 1 year for any non-communicable disease. We offer a lifetime guarantee against genetic disease.
Potential buyers are carefully screened to ensure that our puppies are being placed in the best, loving, forever homes that we can find. We look for responsible people who are knowledgeable about our breed and the responsibilities that go along with toy breed ownership. We require that buyers have a securely fenced yard and puppy-proofed home. All family members must be in agreement about the decision to add a new puppy to the family.
Our commitment to our puppies does not end when they join their new families. We are happy to provide advice and support after your puppy is in your home, and enjoy staying in touch with our new "extended families". In the unfortunate event that you are unable to fulfill your commitment to your puppy, we ask that you notify us so that we can find a suitable replacement home for the puppy, or take the puppy back. Our dogs and puppies must never end up in a shelter or rescue.
If you are interested in applying for a Shih Tzu puppy for your family, please feel free to contact us by email or telephone. We'll be happy to help you make an educated decision in the right choice in a new puppy. Be sure to visit our puppy page for current details about available puppies and upcoming litters.
